The Cruet Up is a pendant light with a cylindrical shade of smoked grey glass with a glossy surface. The shade is 17 cm in diameter and 30 cm high, and it hangs from a 150 cm black textile-braided cable that both powers the lampholder and carries the weight of the glass.
Light source and brightness
Inside is a single E27 lampholder for a bulb of up to 40 W. The bulb is not included. Smoked glass lets through less light than clear glass and gives it a greyish tint, so the same bulb will put less light into the room here than in a clear shade. The manufacturer recommends elongated vintage-style bulbs for this shape, with the filament visible through the glass.
The light can be dimmed, provided the bulb is marked as dimmable and works with the dimmer used. It is a protection class I fitting, so it must be connected to the protective earth, and it is rated IP20 – intended for dry interiors.
The Cruet series and combining lights
The Cruet series comes in two shade shapes – the tall Up cylinder, like this one, and the flat, wide Low – in three glass colours: clear, smoked and amber. The manufacturer designs them to be combined: three, five or six lights in different colours and shapes hung side by side form one composition. A single light lets you add more later and build such a set step by step.
Where to hang it
The manufacturer intends Cruet for dining rooms, living rooms and bedrooms, as well as kitchens. Its retro character comes from the plain glass cylinder on a textile cable, with no metal shade or ornament. Above a dining table the lower edge of the shade is usually hung 70–80 cm above the tabletop.
