Crutch is a pendant light shaped as a slim metal cylinder, 5.8 cm in diameter and 40 cm tall. The body is black and the decorative cylinder slipped over it is chrome. s.luce offers Crutch in twelve combinations of body and cylinder colour; this variant is a black body with chrome.
Size and suspension
At 5.8 cm across the light takes up very little space, so several can hang side by side over one table or counter, and the manufacturer explicitly intends such groupings. The cable length is set during installation and can be shortened or extended. Over a dining table the lower edge of a pendant usually hangs 70–80 cm above the top, so the light does not dazzle people sitting there.
It is a protection class I fitting, so it must be earthed, and it is intended for indoor use.
Light source and beam adjustment
The light has one GU10 lampholder for a lamp of up to 15 W. No lamp is included, so you choose the colour temperature and brightness yourself. It can be dimmed with a dimmable GU10 lamp and a matching dimmer.
The cylinder slides up and down the body. This changes not only the look of the light but also the width of the beam, from a wider circle to a narrow, focused spot. The cylinder comes off and goes back on without tools, simply pulled off and slid over the body.
Where it fits
A plain cylindrical form with no ornament and smooth metal surfaces make a modern, minimalist light. The manufacturer intends Crutch for over a dining table, over a kitchen counter, for stairwells and for shops, as well as for living rooms and bedrooms.
