Echos is a pendant light with five mouth-blown glass shades in smoke. Each shade has a ribbed, slightly barrel-shaped form 18 cm across and 20 cm high, and all five hang on their own cables from a single white ceiling bar.

How it hangs over a table

The canopy is a plain bar, 160 × 10 cm and 4 cm thick — the longest dimension of the whole fitting and the one to compare with the length of your tabletop. Five light points spread over 160 cm cover a table for six; over a shorter top the bar will overhang it.

The cables are 150 cm and are shortened during installation, so the hanging height is set on site. Above a dining table the bottom edge of the shade usually sits 70–80 cm above the top: the light then reaches the whole surface without shining into the eyes of anyone seated. The manufacturer also offers the fitting with a 500 cm cable, for tall rooms.

Which bulbs to buy

The fitting has five E27 lampholders and takes bulbs of up to 40 W each. No bulbs are supplied, so you choose the colour and brightness yourself — and because the glass is smoked and see-through, the bulb stays visible and its shape becomes part of how the lamp looks.

It can be dimmed, but it has no electronics of its own: you need bulbs marked as dimmable and a dimmer in the installation. The fitting is protection class I, so an earth conductor has to be run to the ceiling box.

The glass and the build

The shades are blown by mouth, so the ribbing and the depth of the smoke vary slightly from piece to piece — two shades on the same lamp are not identical. The metal bar and the suspensions are white, which sets them against the dark glass rather than blending into it.

An IP20 rating means installation in dry interiors only. The Echos series also runs to clear and brown glass, a 25 cm diameter and a black suspension, so the same arrangement can be put together in a different colourway.
