NUMINOS XL CL is a surface-mounted ceiling spotlight from the German brand SLV – a cylinder 12 cm across and 25.8 cm long, fixed straight to the ceiling, with a head that swivels and tilts.

3,550 lumens from 28 W

This is the most powerful version of the family: 3,550 lm for a draw of 28 W, which is 126.8 lm/W – a figure few accent spotlights reach. The narrow 24° beam gathers that output into a strong, clearly defined cone. This is a fitting for tall interiors: from 4–5 metres it will light a display, a painting or a counter so that the object lifts off its background; in a room of ordinary ceiling height it will be far too much.

CRI 90 and 2700 K

Colour rendering is above 90 and the colour is 2700 K – very warm white. That combination is the standard for display lighting in clothing shops, galleries and hotels: warm light with high CRI shows fabric, wood and skin tones properly, rather than washing the reds out the way cool CRI 80 sources do.

Trailing-edge phase dimming

The PHASE version dims from an ordinary wall dimmer on the trailing edge – no DALI bus, no separate controller. Note the inrush current: 10 A for 50 µs. SLV states outright how many of these may share one breaker: 54 units on a B16A (the same on a C16A). On a larger installation that is the number to check before splitting circuits.

Construction

The body is aluminium in matt white / matt black, with a polycarbonate lens. The LED module runs at 700 mA and is replaceable by a specialist – this is not a throwaway fitting, but nor is it one where you change the lamp yourself. Rated life is 50,000 hours, protection class I, ingress protection IP20. Ambient range: −20 to +45 °C. Warranty: 5 years.
