Sol 4050AL Outdoor Ceiling Light Aluminium LED 4000 K DALI NORLYS

Sol 4050AL is a round outdoor ceiling light mounted directly on a ceiling or canopy — a cylinder 20 cm in diameter and 11 cm high. The body is an extruded aluminium profile powder-coated in aluminium RAL 9006, and light leaves through satin safety glass underneath. The LED module and DALI driver are built in.

How much light it gives

The luminaire draws 19.1 W and delivers 1,866 lm at 4000 K, a neutral white — more than twice an old 60 W bulb, enough to serve as the main light under a terrace canopy or gazebo roof. Light falls symmetrically downwards and only 0.3% of the flux escapes upwards, so it does not light up the sky or the windows above. Norlys calculated the light distribution for a 2.5 m mounting height.

Norlys rates the LED lifetime above 50,000 h (L70). The LED module and driver are available as service kits, so after a failure a technician replaces them rather than the whole luminaire.

DALI-2 control and power supply

The driver supports DALI-2, meaning control and dimming from a digital DALI installation — it will not work with an ordinary phase dimmer. The terminals (max 5 × 2.5 mm²) take the supply and the control line, and fittings can be looped through with cable up to 1.5 mm². The luminaire also runs on 176–280 V DC, the voltage used by central emergency power systems.

Mounting and build

The fitting is fixed with two screws through ø5 mm holes 100 mm apart, and the 7–10.5 mm supply cable enters through an EPDM gland. It weighs 2.65 kg. IP65 means it is dust-tight and protected against water jets, so it can work in the open air, while IK06 rates its impact resistance. It is a protection class I luminaire and needs a protective earth. The plain, smooth form without ornament suits modern house and garden architecture.
