Nordlux Sponge Spike 2018128003 is a rechargeable garden light supplied with a ground spike. Its rounded white shade sits on a slim black stem, recalling the outline of a mushroom. Designed by Says Who, it combines soft curves with a restrained Scandinavian profile.
A light point for beds and terrace edges
The included spike lets this version of Sponge stand in the ground. Nordlux specifically suggests flowerbeds and positions along a driveway or terrace. The overall height is 51.5 cm, with a shade diameter of 20 cm. Overall height is not the same as the height above ground once the spike is inserted.
Plastic is combined with a metal component, and the fitting has an IP65 rating for outdoor use. The manufacturer does not classify it as suitable for seaside conditions. Place the stem beside walking routes rather than within them, allowing people to pass without stepping around the light.
Three brightness settings and their runtimes
The integrated, non-replaceable LED produces warm white light at 2700 K. Moodmaker provides three brightness levels, selected using the switch on the fitting. Nordlux specifies 5 hours at 300 lm, 10 hours at 200 lm and 18 hours at 100 lm. Reducing the output therefore extends the interval between charges; it does not change the colour temperature.
Charging before moving the light
A 150 cm Micro-USB cable is included for charging the built-in battery. A full recharge takes 6 hours according to the manufacturer, and the instructions specify a 5 V, 1 A supply. Once charged, the light can operate without a cable running from the socket to its position. The smooth dome and unadorned stem suit modern, minimalist and Scandinavian outdoor arrangements, where the simple silhouette can remain visible without elaborate decorative detailing.
