Wexford is a traditional wall lantern from Elstead Lighting's own line, with a PIR motion sensor built into the back plate. The four-sided cast aluminium body has a pitched roof with a finial and stands up from its bracket, finished in black brushed with silver. Each of the four panels is hand-assembled from five pieces of glass leaded into a diamond.
Size and mounting on the facade
The lantern is 53.2 cm tall and 15.9 cm wide, projects 27.8 cm from the wall and weighs 2.16 kg. It is fixed through a 17 × 12 cm back plate, 3 cm deep — that plate, not the lantern itself, has to fit on a flat section of wall, for example between a door frame and a downpipe. For a building corner the manufacturer offers separately sold corner brackets C-BKT2-BLACK, C-BKT2-BROWN and C-BKT5-BLACK.
Motion sensor
The PIR sensor covers a 120° angle and detects movement from 1 to 8 m away, switching the light on instantly. The on-time after detection can be set from 5 seconds to 7 minutes, so the light at the entrance does not have to burn all night. The sensor itself sits in the lower part of the back plate, below the bracket arm.
Bulb and operating conditions
Inside is one E27 lampholder for a bulb of up to 60 W; no bulb is included. IP44 means protection against splashing water from any direction, and as a Class I fitting it needs an earth conductor in the wiring. The distributor gives the lantern a 3-year anti-corrosion guarantee.
The classic form suits a house facade, a garden and the entrances of hotels and restaurants. The Wexford range also includes a version without the sensor.
