Aldex Pure Chrome Vertical Wall Light 2xE14 Metal Glass 1064D4_2

Pure Wall Chrome Vertical is a wall light with two spherical shades of matt, opal white glass mounted on a chrome-finished metal rod. The rod runs vertically and bends at an angle just below the upper globe — the same bend recurs across the Pure collection. The manufacturer designed it for the wall, but it can also be fitted as a short ceiling light.

How large it is and how much space it takes

The fitting is 99 cm tall and 14 cm wide, which is the diameter of each globe. On the manufacturer's drawing the upper arm is 17 cm long, and at its furthest point, by the upper shade, the lamp projects 38 cm from the wall. Compare that figure with the width of the walkway if the light is to hang in a narrow hallway or next to a door.

The whole lamp sits on a round 10 cm wall plate that covers the junction box. It weighs 1.18 kg. According to the instructions the plate is screwed to the wall at two points, and the fitting is connected by an electrician with the power switched off.

Which light sources it takes

Each globe holds an E14 lampholder, so the fitting takes two light sources. The manufacturer allows an LED bulb of up to 10 W in each holder — that is an upper limit, not the consumption of the whole lamp, and it rules out traditional higher-wattage bulbs. Colour and brightness depend on the bulbs you choose: at 2700–3000 K the light is warm and slightly yellowish.

The matt glass spreads the light over the whole surface of the sphere, so the bulb does not show as a bright point. The lamp gives general light around itself rather than a focused beam, which is why the manufacturer presents it as a complement to the main lighting.

Which interiors it suits

Pure is a minimalist, modern form: a straight rod with a single bend, smooth undecorated globes and a chrome finish that reflects its surroundings. The manufacturer suggests it for lighting the area beside mirrors. It is intended for living rooms, bedrooms, dining rooms, entrance halls and corridors, as well as hotels and restaurants. This model also comes in white, gold and black.
