Arden Small LED Pendant Light - Brushed Gold Elstead

The small Arden LED pendant by Alora Mood is a ribbed gold cylinder on a slim cable, finished with an opal glass globe beneath a perforated half-dome. The finish is brushed gold, and a round ceiling rose in the same tone covers the connection. It is distributed by Elstead Lighting.

Size and hanging height

The fitting itself is 24.1 cm tall with a 15.2 cm diameter — an accent light rather than a room's main light. The cable is 182.9 cm, and the drop is set during installation anywhere from 42.3 to 210.1 cm, ceiling to the bottom of the fitting. Over a table or worktop the shade's lower edge usually hangs 70–80 cm above the surface, so take your ceiling height, subtract the worktop height and that gap.

It weighs 0.58 kg and is Class II — double insulated, no earth conductor.

LED source and light colour

Light comes from a built-in LED module of about 7 W. 3000 K is a warm white, and CRI 93 makes it easy to judge the colours of food or the worktop beneath. The module cannot be changed like a bulb. The manufacturer lists the pendant as dimmable.

The opal globe diffuses the light, while the half-dome limits spill upwards. Two rows of perforations run round the rim of the half-dome and let a little light out to the sides.

The manufacturer classes Arden as a modern design: a plain ribbed cylinder, a perforated half-dome and an opal glass globe, with no ornament. It is intended for bedrooms, kitchens and hallways, and the maker also names a place over a kitchen island or a side table. At 15 cm across, a longer worktop usually calls for more than one.
