Graham Duo-Mount Pendant / Semi-Flush - 3 Light E14 - Black Elstead

Graham is a three-light Hinkley fitting, distributed by Elstead Lighting, that can hang on rods as a pendant or be mounted without them as a semi-flush ceiling light. A welded frame in a black finish joins two round shades of off-white polycotton made to look like parchment – a larger one on top and a smaller one beneath it, encircled by a black ring. The underside is finished, so looking up you do not see a bare cluster.

Size and two ways to mount it

The upper shade is 40.6 cm across, which keeps it in proportion over a table about 80–90 cm wide. Mounted semi-flush, the fitting is 35.9 cm tall – the option for rooms with lower ceilings. Rods of 2 × 15.2 cm and 2 × 30.5 cm are supplied, and with them the pendant reaches an overall height of 129.9 cm.

The height is set during installation by choosing the rods. Over a table the bottom of the shade usually sits 70–80 cm above the top, so it is worth working that distance out from your ceiling height before installing. The lamp weighs 2.7 kg, and the round ceiling plate is black like the frame.

Light sources

There are three E14 lampholders, each for a bulb of up to 40 W; no bulbs are included. The light passes through two layers of fabric shade that diffuse it, so the bulbs do not shine directly into your eyes. The fitting is compatible with dimmable bulbs – dimming needs a dimmer and bulbs labelled as dimmable.

It is a Class I fitting, so it must be connected to an earth conductor, and it is intended for indoor use.

Style and where it fits

The manufacturer describes Graham as a transitional design, bridging classic and contemporary: traditional drum shades paired with a plain metal frame without ornament. The black frame and ceiling plate stand out sharply against the light shades. It works over a dining table, and as a semi-flush fitting also where the ceiling does not allow a long drop. The Graham family comes in two sizes, and this three-light model is also available in polished nickel and lacquered brass.
