Borg Bollard 6192 Garden Bollard Light, Light Grey RAL 9006 Norlys

Borg Bollard 6192 is a 105 cm bollard: a slender 76 mm column topped by a flat, round head 20 cm across. The body is cast aluminium powder-coated in light grey (RAL 9006), and the light leaves the underside of the head through a satin PMMA diffuser.

What light it gives

The luminaire draws 17.6 W and emits 1358 lm at 3000 K, a warm white. The distribution is rotationally symmetric, and a ULOR of 0% means all the light goes downwards, so the bollard lays an even circle of light on the path and lawn around it instead of glaring at eye level. The flicker figures Pst LM and SVM do not exceed 0.1, so the light does not flicker.

The source is a built-in Cree LED module with a DALI-2 / NightDim driver. Norlys provides for the module and driver to be replaced by a professional service. The module is rated L80 above 102,000 h (L90 above 52,600 h) and the driver 100,000 h.

DALI-2 control

The luminaire is controlled digitally over a DALI bus; an ordinary phase dimmer will not work with it. The driver leaves the factory programmed for maximum current, i.e. full brightness; other settings are programmed by Norlys by arrangement with its sales department.

Installation and wiring

The bollard is fitted according to the enclosed instructions, and the ground anchor 202 or the concrete-in anchor 203 is bought separately. The five-way terminals take conductors up to 5 × 2.5 mm², enough for mains, protective earth and the two DALI wires; the round-sheathed cable can be 7–13.5 mm in diameter, and fittings can be looped. Norlys states that up to 18 bollards fit on one B10 circuit breaker and up to 29 on a B16.

It is a protection class I luminaire and needs a protective earth. IP65 means a dust-tight housing that withstands water jets, IK08 gives impact resistance, and the 6/10 kV surge rating protects the driver against surges on long garden cable runs. Norlys intends Borg for gardens, private grounds and public areas; the plain column with a flat disc is a modern form.
