STEINEL Multisensor True Presence TP V2 BT-IPD UP flush-mounted presence detector white

The Multisensor True Presence TP V2 BT-IPD UP is a flush-mounted STEINEL ceiling sensor that combines presence detection with air-quality measurement. Its square housing in UV-resistant plastic measures 123 × 123 mm with a depth of 51 mm and is white in RAL 9003. An integrated RGB indicator shows the state of the room air, and an audible signal reports it as well.

What it detects and how far it reaches

The sensor watches a 360° field and states two different ranges. Movement and presence are registered across a circle 15 m in diameter, while True Presence detection — which responds to the micro-movements of breathing and heartbeat — covers a circle 9 m across. The two figures read separately: someone sitting still is recognised only within the smaller field, and the manufacturer states True Presence detection up to a mounting height of 4 m.

Beyond presence, the unit measures brightness, temperature, humidity, air pressure, CO2, volatile organic compounds and noise level. The twilight threshold is set anywhere between 2 and 2000 lx.

What it controls, and what it does not

The BT-IPD variant has no switching output — the manufacturer's wiring diagram brings only L and N to the sensor. It forwards its readings over Bluetooth Mesh, and the decision to switch the light is taken by another device on the network: a linked sensor with a suitable interface, or a central unit. On its own this multisensor will not turn a luminaire on, so it belongs in an existing Connect installation. Constant light control is not provided either.

Mounting, power and settings

The sensor is recessed into the ceiling on a plug-in mount with a magnetic connection. Supply is 220–240 V, 50/60 Hz, and its own consumption stays below 1 W. IP20 protection and an ambient range of 0 to 50 °C keep it indoors. The manufacturer gives 2.8 m as the optimum mounting height and 12 m as the maximum — above that the detection field is no longer guaranteed.

Every setting is made from a phone or tablet over Bluetooth; there is no remote control, neither in the box nor offered for this model. The CO2 sensor calibrates itself, which is why it needs permanent power, and during the first week of operation its readings can vary noticeably. A corner wall bracket is not part of the set. The manufacturer's warranty runs for 5 years.
