The Nidaros 2120CS is a surface-mounted outdoor ceiling light: a low aluminium cylinder 12 cm in diameter and 9 cm tall, powder-coated in the rusty brown of corten steel. Clear safety glass closes the underside, with a deeply recessed reflector behind it.
Where to mount it
The fitting is fixed to a horizontal surface through two holes – under a porch canopy, on the ceiling of a carport or covered walkway, or in a roof soffit. It projects only 9 cm from the ceiling, so it also fits under a low beam. IP65 means protection against dust and water jets from any direction, so it needs no extra cover.
Light leaves only downwards, in a 24° beam. Norlys intends it, among other uses, for lighting walls and facades: mounted close to a wall it draws a narrow beam down the surface, and no light goes above the fitting (ULOR 0%), so it does not shine into the sky.
How much light, and what kind
The LED module produces 1051 lm, and 762 lm leave the fitting after the reflector while it draws 10.7 W – about as much as an old 60 W bulb, but concentrated in one direction. 3000 K is warm white, and Ra 80 is enough for an entrance and the wall of a house. Norlys gives a module lifetime of L70 59,000 h.
The fitting is phase-dimmable with both trailing-edge (TE) and leading-edge (LE) dimmers. The light source is integrated – there is no bulb to buy – and the LED module is replaced by a professional service.
Connection
It is a class I luminaire and needs a protective earth conductor. The terminals take conductors up to 3 × 2.5 mm², and further fittings are looped through with cable up to 1.5 mm². The cable gland is sized for a round cable 7–10.5 mm in diameter. The fitting weighs 0.95 kg; the 3084 mounting spacer is sold separately.
