Norlys Trysil 1048GR LED garden lamp post, 263 cm, 12.5 W, 3000 K, graphite RAL 7016

The Trysil 1048GR is a garden lamp post with an integrated LED luminaire: an extruded aluminium profile, powder-coated in graphite RAL 7016, bends sideways at the top into a flat head with a clear, textured polycarbonate diffuser. It stands 263 cm tall, and the 24 cm wide head reaches out 71 cm.

How much light it gives

Two Cree LED modules with a combined 10.6 W sit in the head; the whole lamp post draws 12.5 W. The modules produce 1988 lm and 1260 lm leave the luminaire – what a path, driveway or part of the garden around the post needs to be clearly lit. 3000 K is warm white, and Ra 80 colour rendering shows paving and plants correctly, though less faithfully than Ra 90 luminaires.

The light is directed symmetrically downwards and the upward light share is 0% (BUG rating B1-U1-G0), so it does not shine into the sky or into the windows of nearby buildings. The built-in driver allows dimming with a trailing-edge (TE) or leading-edge (LE) phase dimmer.

Lifetime and service

The manufacturer gives an L90 lifetime of 52,600 h – after that time the modules still deliver 90% of their initial output – and L80 of 102,000 h. At three hours a day, the first figure means more than 48 years. The LED modules and the driver are replaced only by a professional service, using service kit ZS1048zx0009; they are not meant to be swapped by the user.

Installation and connection

The lamp post weighs 17.2 kg and ships in a 44 × 38 × 232 cm carton. It is installed according to the enclosed instructions, and any other mounting accessories have to be bought separately. The terminals take conductors up to 3 × 4 mm², and several posts can be looped with cable up to 3 × 2.5 mm² and up to ø12.5 mm outer diameter, so one line feeds successive posts along a path. The luminaire is rated IP65 and IK10 and is protection class I, so the protective earth conductor must be connected.

The plain, angular form without ornament suits modern architecture; the lamp post is meant for gardens and parks as well as hotel and restaurant grounds.
