Outdoor wall light NORLYS Asker Big 1308WH LED 7.2 W 3000 K, white RAL 9003

The Asker Big 1308WH is a box-shaped outdoor LED wall light in cast aluminium, powder-coated white (RAL 9003). Light leaves only through the bottom, via a clear textured polycarbonate lens, and spreads down the wall below the fitting in a wide, diffuse cone. The LED modules are built in and supplied with the light, so there is no bulb to buy.

Size and wall mounting

The body is 30.2 cm wide and 12.5 cm high, and projects 12.1 cm from the wall. The light weighs 2.62 kg. The manufacturer provides two ways to fix it: through an intermediate plate with two 5 × 10 mm slotted holes 45 mm apart, which let you adjust the position of the fitting, or directly to the wall through two ø5 mm holes 68 mm apart.

The terminals take conductors up to 3 × 2.5 mm², and the cable gland seals a round-sheathed cable 7–10.5 mm in diameter. Several lights can be looped together with cable up to 3 × 1.5 mm². This is a Class I fitting, so it needs a protective earth connection, and the manufacturer specifies installation by a qualified electrician.

How much light, and what kind

3000 K is warm white, noticeably warmer than 4000 K neutral light. The fitting delivers 618 lm from 7.2 W — less than an old 60 W bulb, which is enough to light an entrance, a stretch of façade or a path beside the house rather than a whole yard. No light goes upward, so the wall above the fitting stays dark.

The light is dimmable, but only with a trailing-edge phase dimmer. The LED modules and driver are not throwaway parts: a service technician can replace them, and the manufacturer offers dedicated service kits for each.

Outdoor use

IP65 means the fitting is dust-tight and protected against water jets, so it can go on a wall with no canopy above it. IK08 rates the housing to withstand a 5 J impact. The lens is UV-stabilised, and a silicone gasket and an EPDM cable gland seal the interior. The manufacturer gives an operating range of −20 to +45 °C.

The plain, smooth body without ornament suits modern and modernist architecture. The light is intended for gardens, façades, balconies and fences, as well as hotels and restaurants. In the Asker Big series the same fitting also comes in aluminium, black and graphite.
