Asker Big 1303GR is an outdoor wall light shaped as a rectangular box of cast aluminium powder-coated in graphite (RAL 7016). The top and bottom faces carry diffusers of clear, textured, UV-stabilised polycarbonate, so it shines up and down at once and draws two beams of light on the wall.
Size and mounting
The light is 30.2 cm wide and 12.5 cm high and projects 12.1 cm from the wall. It is fixed either via an intermediate plate with two 5 × 10 mm adjustment slots 45 mm apart, or directly with two screws through ø5 mm holes 68 mm apart. It weighs 2.7 kg.
The terminals take conductors up to 3 × 2.5 mm², and when several lights are looped together, with the supply passed on to the next one, the cable can be up to 3 × 1.5 mm². The gland takes cable 7–10.5 mm in diameter. It is a Class I fitting, so it must be connected to protective earth.
Light source
Inside is a single E27 holder for a lamp in the classic A55–A60 pear shape. The lamp is not included and has to be bought separately; the manufacturer allows an LED lamp of up to 9 W. You therefore choose the colour and brightness yourself, and changing the lamp needs no service. Half the light goes upwards (ULOR 50%) and half downwards, so the fitting highlights a band of facade above and below it rather than lighting a wide area in front of the house.
Where it fits
IP65 means fully dust-tight and protected against water jets, so the light can hang on an open wall with no canopy. IK08 means it withstands a 5 J impact. The manufacturer intends the Asker Big for lighting walls, facades and architectural details; several fittings at even spacing give a facade a regular rhythm of light bands. The plain form without ornament and the matt graphite suit modern, minimalist buildings. The same fitting is also made in black, white and light grey.
