Norlys Paris Small 1498GA Outdoor Wall Light, Hot-Dip Galvanised, LED 2700 K, TE Dimmable

Paris Small 1498GA is a half-dome outdoor wall light made of hot-dip galvanised steel – raw, grey and metallic. Its underside is closed by a satin, UV-stabilised polycarbonate diffuser, and inside sits an integrated LED module with its driver.

Dimensions and mounting

The fitting is 23 cm wide and 11.5 cm high, projects 14 cm from the wall and weighs 0.79 kg. It is fixed through two oval 5 × 10 mm holes spaced 90 mm apart – the oval shape leaves a few millimetres of play for levelling. The terminals take conductors up to 3 × 2.5 mm², the cable entry suits a round-sheathed cable 7–10.5 mm in diameter, and fittings can be looped through with cable up to 3 × 1.5 mm².

This is a Class I luminaire, so it needs a protective earth. Norlys also states how many of these fittings one circuit breaker can carry: 46 on B10, 75 on B16, 74 on C10 and 120 on C16 – figures that help when planning a longer run along a facade.

What light it gives

The 4.2 W LED module produces 770 lm, and 613 lm leaves the complete fitting at a consumption of 5.9 W. 2700 K is a warm, slightly yellow light like a traditional bulb. The light is diffused and directed downwards, with nothing going upwards (ULOR 0%) – the fitting lights the wall and the path below it, not the sky.

It is dimmed with a trailing-edge (TE) phase dimmer. Norlys rates the module at more than 102,000 h (L80) and the driver at 50,000 h. The LED module and driver are replaced only by a professional service, for which LED (ZS4699101109) and driver (ZS4699100540) service kits exist.

Weather resistance

IP43 means protection against solid objects larger than 1 mm and against water sprayed at up to 60° from vertical, i.e. rain; it does not cover splashing from every direction, which is what IP44 describes. An EPDM gland seals the cable entry.

Style and variants

Norlys calls the Paris design classic and simple: a smooth shade with no ornament. The light is intended for house facades and gardens. Model 1498 also comes in white, black and a Corten steel colour.
