HELIA AMBIENT 35 is a slim pendant shaped as a black aluminium tube 3.5 cm across and 38 cm long. The lower section of the tube is closed with an acrylic insert, and that is where the light comes out. The fitting hangs on a two-metre supply lead finished with a flat round rosette.

What you need besides the fitting itself

This is the recessed version: the mount goes into the ceiling, so a round cut-out 6.8 cm across with 3 cm of clear space behind it has to be prepared before installation. The same lamp also exists as a surface-mounted version with a ceiling plate, under its own article number.

The luminaire runs in protection class III on a 500 mA constant current and has no built-in driver. Without a separate LED driver it cannot be switched on at all. The manufacturer lists three: a plain 21 W 500 mA unit, a trailing-edge dimmable 15 W 350/500 mA unit and a DALI 25 W 150–700 mA unit. The built-in LED delivers 425 lm at 7.5 W and 3000 K, a warm white close to a traditional bulb. That is an amount of light for accents and for one specific spot — a single tube will not light a whole room, but it is enough over a worktop, over a desk or beside an armchair. Ra 90 means colours under this light look almost as they do in daylight.

The LED is not user-replaceable: the manufacturer quotes 30,000 hours of service life and reserves the exchange for a professional, so no bulb has to be ordered with it or sourced later.

Dimensions and suspension

The tube weighs 0.656 kg and is 38 cm long, the lead is 200 cm — the drop is shortened to the length you need during installation. Over a worktop the lower edge is usually set 70–80 cm above the surface, so that the light covers the working area without shining into your eyes.

The narrow vertical form in black aluminium is repeated across the HELIA series in several sizes, so several units can hang in a row over a kitchen island or over a table. The manufacturer intends this one for the living room and for office interiors.
