NUMINOS PD DALI M is a pendant light shaped as a matt black aluminium cylinder, 8.5 cm in diameter and 18.5 cm tall. The LED module sits deep inside the lower opening of the body, so no glowing diode is visible from the side. The light hangs on a 250 cm cable below a round canopy 10.3 cm across.
Size and installation
The body weighs 1.15 kg net. The 250 cm cable is shortened during installation: according to the manufacturer's instructions, the strain relief in the canopy is loosened, the cable cut to length and reconnected. Over a table, the lower edge of a pendant usually sits 70–80 cm above the top, and with an 18.5 cm body the required drop is easy to work out.
It is a Class I fitting for dry indoor spaces only, so an earth conductor is needed at the connection point. The instructions reserve installation for a qualified electrician.
Light and control
The integrated 13 W LED module delivers 1750 lm, more than twice an old 60 W bulb, focused by a 36° optic. This is directional light that clearly lights the surface below rather than spreading over the ceiling. At 2700 K the light is warm and yellowish, close to a traditional bulb, and with Ra 90 colours on the table look almost as they do in daylight. A UGR of 16 means people sitting nearby do not look into a harsh source.
The driver is built in and the light runs directly on 230 V mains. It dims over a DALI-2 bus, and the manufacturer also lists Touch control from an ordinary push button. For DALI dimming, a pair of control wires connected to the DA terminals has to be run to the fitting in addition to the mains supply. The LED module and driver may only be replaced by a professional.
The NUMINOS series
NUMINOS is SLV's modular system in which the same cylindrical body comes in several sizes and mounting types. The PD DALI line covers pendants in sizes S, M, L and XL from 7.8 to 27 W, so a larger surface can take a stronger light with the same look. The plain, minimalist form suits a kitchen island and a dining table.
