NUMINOS XL PD PHASE is a pendant light shaped as a matt black aluminium cylinder, 12 cm in diameter and 25.8 cm high, hung on a 250 cm cable. The LED sits deep inside the body, so the light leaves as a focused beam downwards and from the side you see only the dark tube.

Size and installation

The cylinder is 12 cm across and the round canopy 10.3 cm, enough to cover a standard junction box. The pendant cable is 250 cm long and, according to the manufacturer's manual, can be shortened: loosen the strain relief, disconnect the wires, cut the cable and reconnect. That lets you set the lower edge of the light at the height your table or island needs. The light weighs 1.878 kg and is intended only for ceiling mounting in dry rooms.

It is a protection class I luminaire with the driver built into the body: it connects directly to 230 V mains via L, N and the protective earth, with no separate driver to buy.

What light it gives

The integrated 28 W LED module delivers 3550 lm, more than four times an old 60 W bulb – working light, not just decoration. The 2700 K colour temperature is warm and slightly yellowish, and CRI 90 means food and worktops look natural under it. A glare rating of UGR 16 means low glare, so the source does not dazzle people sitting at the table.

The beam angle is 36°. The same range also comes in 24° and 60° versions, so this one sits in the middle: it lights a defined area beneath the lamp rather than the whole room. It can be dimmed with a trailing-edge phase dimmer (code C). The light source and driver may only be replaced by a professional.

Where it works

The light is intended for use above a kitchen island and above a dining table, including in a row of several over a longer surface – the manufacturer allows 54 fittings on one B16 circuit breaker. The smooth, unornamented cylinder in matt black suits modern and minimalist interiors.

NUMINOS is SLV's modular family, available in S, M, L and XL sizes. XL is the largest and brightest; the smaller sizes start at 6.5 cm in diameter with proportionally lower output.
