Ellison is a wall light by Hinkley, distributed by Elstead Lighting. A round black back plate carries a faceted die-cast cuff in brushed nickel, which holds a tall cylinder of clear glass. The light is 34.6 cm tall and 12.7 cm wide, and it projects 11.9 cm from the wall.
Where to mount it
IP44 means protection against splashing water, and the manufacturer rates this wall light for bathrooms — on either side of a mirror, for example. It is designed for indoor use. The back plate is 12.7 cm in diameter, enough to cover a standard wall box. The fitting weighs 1.21 kg and is Class I, so it must be connected to the protective earth.
Which bulb
The cuff contains one E27 lampholder for a bulb of up to 40 W. No bulb is included. The glass is clear, so the bulb stays visible along the full height of the shade — the manufacturer recommends a long tubular clear-glass E27 LED lamp that fills the narrow cylinder. The fitting works with dimmable lamps: to control brightness you need a dimmable bulb and a dimmer.
Finish and style
The two finishes — matt black on the back plate and brushed nickel on the cuff — set up a clear contrast, and the facets of the cuff catch the light at different angles. The manufacturer places Ellison between transitional and updated traditional styles and intends it for bathrooms and dining rooms. The same fitting is also available in black with heritage brass.
