Fiennes is a five-arm pendant from the British brand Endon Lighting. The arms spread to 65 cm across, and each ends in its own round white cotton shade of 16.5 cm diameter. The central column and the lampholders are detailed with tapered clear cut crystal glass.

Five separate sources, not one big one

The fitting has five E14 lampholders, each rated at a maximum of 40 W – that is the figure per lamp, not in total. The manufacturer suggests golf-ball lamps or their LED equivalents. No bulbs are included, so budget for five. Splitting the light across five points under separate shades gives soft, diffused lighting instead of one bright source – which is the point of the fabric shades, subduing the light further.

Dimming depends on the lamps

The fitting works with a dimmer, but has no dimming electronics of its own – the result depends on fitting dimmable lamps and using a compatible dimmer. With five ordinary non-dimmable LEDs the dimmer will either do nothing or cause flicker.

Adjustable drop

Overall height adjusts between 75.5 and 168 cm, nearly a metre of freedom – enough for a table in a flat and for a room with a higher ceiling or a stairwell. The cable is clear, so it is less conspicuous than a black or braided one.

Steel construction in a chrome finish, fabric shades in Vintage White, crystal glass detailing. Weight 3.85 kg net – check that the ceiling and the fixing will carry it. IP20 means dry interiors. The manufacturer gives a 2-year warranty.
