Lighthouse is an outdoor half wall lantern by Feiss (Generation Lighting), supplied through Elstead Lighting. It is shaped like a cylinder cut in half with a small dome on top: the flat back sits against the wall, and at the front a curved pane of seeded glass – glass with air bubbles – is crossed by two horizontal bands. The finish is textured black, and the form draws on ship's lights.
Size and space on the wall
The lantern is 28.9 cm tall and 17.8 cm wide, and it projects only 11.4 cm from the wall. Compare that shallow projection with where it will hang: in a narrow passage, on a balcony or beside an outward-opening door, the fitting stays out of the way. It weighs 1.5 kg.
Which bulb to choose
The fitting has a single E27 socket for a lamp of up to 60 W. No bulb is included. The seeded glass is clear, so the bulb stays visible through it – its shape is part of the lantern's look, and the bubbles break the image of the filament into small reflections.
The lantern is compatible with dimmable lamps: if the circuit has a dimmer, choose a bulb marked as dimmable.
Construction and where to mount it
The body is made of aluminium, and the IP44 rating means protection against water splashing from any direction – the manufacturer intends the fitting for outdoor installation. It suits a facade, a terrace and a balcony, as well as the entrances of hotels and restaurants.
The fitting is protection class I, so it must be connected to a protective earth conductor – the wiring at the mounting point needs an earth. It runs on 220–240 V mains voltage.
