MOTTA is an aluminium LED profile for building into plasterboard, in a white lacquered finish, 1 m long. It is fitted at the junction of wall and ceiling, and once it is plastered over, only the light slot stays visible. The profile is sold as the bare extrusion.
Cross-section and the space it needs in the build-up
The extrusion is 47.2 mm wide including the plastering flange and 40.6 mm tall, while the body that stays visible measures 27.2 mm. The 20.6 mm flange disappears under the plaster, so the framing has to allow the full 47.2 mm rather than the width of the visible strip.
The edge that sits against the wall is matched to the thickness of a plasterboard sheet. The manufacturer gives this as the reason finishing and painting are easier: the profile ends flush with the board.
How many strips it takes and what you buy separately
The internal channel is 23.8 mm wide, and the manufacturer states the capacity as 2 × 10 mm: two LED strips of up to 10 mm each. Measure a strip together with its adhesive layer, because that is what sets its real width.
The profile arrives with no strips, no cover and no end caps — those are separate items from the same system. For MOTTA the manufacturer lists the DOUBLE cover, end caps with a cable hole in plastic or aluminium, and a plastering mask. The driver sits outside the profile, so it needs a place of its own in the ceiling void or in a box.
Run length and operating conditions
The profile is made in 1 m, 2.02 m and 3 m lengths, and the manufacturer publishes no connectors for it. A longer line is therefore laid as successive lengths butted against each other.
MOTTA is not a sealable profile — the manufacturer rates it IP20, which means dry indoor use only. It is not rated to be driven over either, so it does not belong in a floor.
