NORLYS Astrid 2220GR bollard light, graphite colour, LED 14.6 W 4000 K, 55 cm

Astrid 2220GR is a 55 cm bollard light made from an extruded aluminium profile, 14 × 14 cm in section, with vertical fluting. The body is powder-coated in graphite RAL 7016, and behind the fluting in the upper part sits a milky PMMA diffuser through which the diffused light leaves the fitting.

How much light it gives

The bollard has an integrated Osram LED module with the driver included, so there is no bulb to buy. The fitting draws 14.6 W and gives 4000 K, a neutral white, at CRI 80. The luminaire emits 287 lm — the milky diffuser and the fluting let out only part of the module's 2279 lm, so this is light for marking a path, a driveway or the edge of a terrace rather than for lighting a whole garden.

The fitting is phase-dimmable and works with TRIAC dimmers of both the trailing-edge (TE) and leading-edge (LE) type, so it suits newer and older dimmers alike. The manufacturer gives a module lifetime of L80B50 over 70,000 h and a driver lifetime of 100,000 h, and a service kit is available for the fitting as a spare part.

Installation and wiring

The bollard is bolted down through three ø9 mm holes set at 120° on a ø65 mm circle. Anchors and adapters are not included: the manufacturer sells separately the concrete anchor 205, the ground anchor 206, the concrete foundation adapter 206S and the mounting adapter 3080GA.

The terminals take conductors up to 3 × 2.5 mm² and allow the supply to be looped on, and the gland takes round cable up to 12.5 mm in diameter, so several bollards along a path run from one line. According to the manufacturer's card, up to 96 of these fittings can run on a single B16 circuit breaker. The fitting is protection class I and needs an earth conductor, and installation should be done by a qualified electrician.

Durability and use

IP65 means dust-tight and protected against water jets from any direction, and IK10 means resistance to a 20 J impact, which matters along a driveway where a bollard can be knocked. It suits gardens, driveways, terraces and street frontages. The plain square form with even fluting is a modern design in a Scandinavian spirit, and the graphite finish goes well with dark window frames and concrete.
