NORLYS Nordland 7118GB outdoor ceiling light, beige grey, LED 12 W 3000 K, MASTER motion sensor, IP65

Nordland 7118GB is an outdoor ceiling and wall light from NORLYS: a flat square in beige grey. A powder-coated cast aluminium housing frames an opal polycarbonate diffuser, and a microwave motion sensor with a daylight switch is built in. This is the MASTER version, which also switches the fittings wired after it.

How big it is and where it mounts

The light measures 28 × 28 cm and projects 9.5 cm, so under a porch canopy or a terrace soffit it takes up little room. The maker rates it for both ceilings and walls; it fixes with two screws through ø5 mm holes spaced 150 × 170 mm apart.

The terminals take conductors up to 3 × 2.5 mm² and allow the supply to be looped on to the next fitting with up to 3 × 1.5 mm². The cable gland suits round cable 7–10.5 mm in diameter, which decides whether an existing cable will fit. Class I means it needs an earth connection.

Motion sensor and running a chain of lights

The microwave sensor switches the light on when it detects movement, the daylight switch stops it coming on in daytime, and the hold function keeps it lit while someone moves within range. As a MASTER the light can control a whole run: the maker allows up to 11 fittings in the sequence master + slave + slave… + master. The slave fittings without a sensor of their own are Nordland 7116 (3000 K) and 7117 (4000 K), so one sensor can light a long terrace, a covered walkway or a façade.

How much light and what kind

The integrated LED module draws 12 W. The source itself produces 1500 lm, and 873 lm leaves the fitting through the opal diffuser — roughly what an old 60 W bulb gave, as diffuse light. 3000 K is a warm white, and CRI 80 is enough to tell colours apart outdoors. The light cannot be dimmed. The LED module (rated L70 above 55,000 h) is replaced by a qualified person, and the maker offers a service kit for it.

Build and durability

IP65 means dust-tight and protected against water jets, so it can work without shelter, and IK10 is the highest impact rating on that scale. The polycarbonate diffuser is UV-stabilised, and a silicone gasket with an EPDM cable gland keeps it sealed.
