The Arendal Big 1569GA is a low bollard light 35 cm tall: a square base of hot-dip galvanised steel, 12 cm across, topped by a block of thick crystal glass. Inside the shade sits a cylinder satin-finished on the inside, which diffuses the light of the bulb. Hot-dip galvanising is a bare metallic zinc coating with no paint – it has no RAL number and dulls over time.
How it lights
The light is exposed: it spreads through the glass sideways and upwards, and Norlys gives a ULOR of 71%, meaning most of the output goes above the fitting. A bollard like this marks the edge of a path, driveway or terrace and gives a soft point of light, but it does not light the ground strongly. It suits gardens, entrances, terraces and the grounds of hotels and restaurants.
Norlys notes that the crystal glass may take on an amber tint over time. The shade is available as a spare part (service kit 915600229).
Bulb and wiring
The light has an E27 socket and takes A55–A60 LED bulbs of up to 9 W. No bulb is included, and the user replaces it. For this model Norlys names the dimmable Philips Master LEDbulb 806 lm / 8.5 W / 2700 K, which gives warm light as bright as an old 60 W bulb.
The terminals take conductors up to 2 × 2.5 mm², and the bollards can be looped through with up to 2 × 1.5 mm², so several along a path run from a single supply line. The gland takes round cable up to 12.5 mm in diameter. It is a protection class II luminaire and needs no protective earth.
Installation
The bollard is fixed with three bolts through ø9 mm holes set at 120° on a ø65 mm circle. Anchors and adapters are sold separately: concrete anchor 205ZX0010, ground anchor 206GA0010, concrete foundation adapter 206GA0S10 and mounting adapter 3086GA0009. Norlys states IP55/65 and impact resistance IK06; the light weighs 6.85 kg.
