BARBARA is a 30 cm table lamp: a white cylinder on a flat round base, topped by a 12 cm globe shade in a smoked, semi-transparent finish. An elongated black panel sits on the body — the touch switch, which also sets the brightness.
How much room it takes and where to put it
The base measures 15 cm across and that is all the surface the lamp occupies — compare it with the free space on a bedside table or along the back edge of a desk. The lamp stands 30 cm tall, so on a 75 cm dining table it ends 105 cm above the floor, just below the eye level of someone sitting at it.
It runs on 230 V mains through a cable leaving the base, so a socket has to be within reach.
The light it gives
The light source is included and permanently built in: an 11 W LED module producing 797 lm, roughly what an old 60 W incandescent bulb gave. That is enough to light one corner of a room, not the whole room.
3000 K is warm white — warmer than daylight, but without the distinctly yellow cast of 2700 K. Brightness changes by touching the panel on the body, so neither a separate dimmer nor a dimmable bulb has to be bought. The diode is integrated into the fitting and cannot be replaced — once the module is worn out, the whole lamp is replaced.
Build and the rooms it is meant for
Body and base are made of aluminium and steel in white, and the black touch panel is the only contrast. The form is minimalist and modern — a cylinder, a sphere and a flat disc, with no ornament and no visible joins — so the lamp does not compete with whatever stands beside it.
The manufacturer intends it for the living room and for the office. The shade passes light in every direction, so BARBARA brightens its surroundings all round rather than aiming a beam at one surface: it is closer to a mood lamp than to a reading light.
