MEDO 30 is a round surface-mounted ceiling light, 28 cm across and 11 cm deep, in matt black. The integrated LED module delivers 1200 lumens on 16 W, and a wide 105° beam spreads the light evenly across a room. The plain volume — an aluminium ring and a glass diffuser — imposes no style and works equally well in a flat and in an office.

It converts into a pendant

This is what sets the series apart: MEDO 30 is not a closed ceiling fixture. With additional accessories — a five-core suspension kit (article 135250 in black) and a 5 m drop (1001952) — the same fitting becomes a pendant lamp. That is unusual flexibility: buying the fitting once does not commit you to whether it stays at the ceiling or descends over a table.

Phase dimming

The fitting dims on trailing-edge phase control — an ordinary wall dimmer rated for capacitive loads is enough, with no bus and no separate controller. The LED driver is built in, so the fitting connects directly to 230 V. The module's secondary current is 350 mA.

Light quality

At 3000 K the light is warm and welcoming, and a colour rendering index of 80 is adequate for a home, a hallway and typical office rooms. Two less commonly published figures are worth noting: UGR ≤ 25 (the glare rating — the lower it is, the less the fitting dazzles when you look up) and SVM 0.05, meaning a stroboscopic effect that is effectively unnoticeable when a hand moves quickly or an object spins. The stated 20,000-hour life is given to the L70B50 standard.

Installation

The fitting mounts on the surface — no aperture to cut and no ceiling void required, so a concrete slab is fine. It is class I, so the circuit needs a PE earth conductor, and inrush current is 10 A for 40 µs (relevant when designing a circuit carrying many fittings). The IP20 rating restricts installation to dry rooms.

Colour versions

MEDO 30 comes in four finishes: black, white, silver-grey and burgundy. Suspension kits and drops are available in colours matching the first three.
