The NUMINOS Spot DALI L is a surface-mounted ceiling spotlight in matt black: a cylindrical body 10 cm across sits on a round ceiling plate through a joint that lets the head rotate and tilt. The LED is built into the fitting and control is to the DALI standard.

Size and where it may be mounted

The fitting is 21.3 cm long and 18 cm high, with a body 10 cm in diameter, and weighs 1.202 kg net. The ceiling plate is 10.3 cm across and 2.9 cm high, which covers an ordinary junction box.

For the L, M and XL sizes the manufacturer permits ceiling mounting only — of this family, only size S may go on a wall. The fitting is protection class I and needs an earth conductor, and its IP20 rating places it in dry interiors.

How much light, and what kind

It delivers 2400 lm for 19 W drawn, which works out at 126 lm/W — three times the brightness of an old 60 W bulb for less current than one of them. At 3000 K the light is warm white, and a colour rendering index of Ra 90 makes colours look almost as they do in daylight, which counts over a worktop, at a mirror and anywhere a material's shade has to be right.

The beam angle is 36°, so the fitting draws a defined cone rather than an even wash. Together with the movable head that gives directional light: the pool is aimed at a picture, a shelf or a work surface after mounting, without moving the ceiling plate. The manufacturer rates the LED module at 50 000 hours.

Control and power

The fitting dims to the DALI standard, and the manufacturer also lists touch control. The DALI controller itself is not part of the fitting — it has to be planned into the installation, as with any DALI bus.

Power comes from the mains: 220–240 V, 50/60 Hz, with the control gear inside the fitting working at 500 mA on the secondary side. No separate driver has to be bought; the fitting wires straight into a 230 V circuit.
