Huntersfield is a small wall lantern by Hinkley, supplied by Elstead Lighting. The black, square-plan lantern with a pyramid roof hangs from a curved arm fixed to a rectangular back plate. Four panes of clear seeded glass, with small air bubbles in it, surround the exposed bulb.
Size and mounting on the facade
The fitting is 35.1 cm high and 17.8 cm wide, and projects 21.8 cm from the wall. Compare those figures with the space beside the front door or on a narrow stretch of wall — between a door frame and a downpipe both the width and the projection count. It weighs 1.64 kg.
The lantern has a flat back plate. For a building corner the manufacturer offers a separate corner bracket, C-BKT2-BLACK (or C-BKT2-BROWN in brown), which is not included. It is protection class I, so it is connected with an earth conductor, and it runs on 220–240 V mains.
Outdoor resistance
IP44 means protection against splashing water from any direction, so the lantern can be mounted outdoors on the wall of a building — on the facade, by the entrance or on a terrace. The body is aluminium, which does not rust the way ordinary steel does.
Light source
The lantern has one E27 lampholder for a bulb of up to 60 W. No bulb is included. The seeded glass does not hide the source, so the bulb stays on show — a clear filament bulb suits this glass, and around 800 lm matches an old 60 W bulb. The fitting is compatible with dimmable bulbs; dimming also needs a dimmer.
The classic lantern shape with its arm and roof suits house facades as well as hotel and restaurant entrances.
