Huntersfield is a small outdoor chain lantern by Hinkley, distributed by Elstead Lighting. It has a classic four-sided shape that tapers towards the bottom, a pyramid-shaped roof and panes of clear seeded glass. The aluminium body is finished in black.
Size and hanging
The lantern itself is 26.9 cm tall and 17.8 cm wide, and weighs 2.08 kg. It hangs on a 152.4 cm chain, so the overall drop from the ceiling can be set across a wide range from 37.4 to 192 cm — short under low eaves or low under a high canopy. The fitting is Class I and must be connected with a protective earth conductor.
Lamp
Huntersfield takes one E27 lamp of up to 60 W and runs on 230 V mains. The lamp is not included. The clear glass leaves the lamp on show, which is why the manufacturer recommends a clear LED E27 lamp in the classic A60 shape, sold separately. The fitting is compatible with dimmable lamps — dimming needs a dimmer and a lamp marked as dimmable.
Outdoors and in the family
The IP44 rating means protection against splashing water from any direction, and the manufacturer specifies the lantern for outdoor installation. It hangs under eaves, on a balcony or terrace, in a gazebo, or at the entrance of a hotel or restaurant. The Huntersfield family also includes wall lanterns in three sizes, a pedestal lantern and a larger three-light chain lantern, so several fittings of the same shape can be combined at the front of a house.
