The Nordland 7117AL is a square outdoor light for wall or ceiling mounting, finished in light grey RAL 9006. The cast body forms a plain, modern frame without ornament, and the opal diffuser projects from it both to the front and to the sides. This is the SLAVE version: it has no motion sensor of its own and works in a chain with MASTER fittings, or as an ordinary light on a wall switch.

Size and mounting

The light measures 28 × 28 cm and projects 9.5 cm from the wall or ceiling. It fixes through two ø5 mm holes spaced 150 × 170 mm apart — worth checking against the point where the supply cable leaves the wall.

The cable gland seals a round cable 7 to 10.5 mm in diameter, and the terminals let the supply continue to the next fitting in the chain. It is a Class I fitting, so it must be connected to the protective earth conductor.

What light it gives

The source is an integrated 12 W LED module, included in the box. The light delivers 873 lm, a little more than an old 60 W bulb, at 4000 K — neutral white with no yellow tint. The light is diffused, and the side windows of the diffuser also brighten the wall or ceiling around the fitting. It is not dimmable.

The manufacturer states a module life of over 55,000 hours at 70% of the luminous flux. The module is replaced by a qualified electrician, and the manufacturer offers a service kit for it.

Working in a chain with MASTER fittings

Connected without a MASTER fitting, the Nordland 7117 works as an ordinary light switched on and off at a wall switch. In a corridor installation the chain starts and ends with a MASTER fitting carrying a motion sensor, and up to 9 SLAVE fittings can be connected between them — up to 11 in total. Movement picked up by the sensor then switches the whole chain on at once. The MASTER versions with a sensor are sold separately.

Construction and where it goes

The body is powder-coated cast aluminium, the diffuser is opal UV-stabilised polycarbonate and the gasket is silicone. IP65 allows outdoor mounting without extra cover, and IK10 is the highest impact-resistance class. The manufacturer gives an operating range of −20 to +45 °C. The light is intended for facades, above the front door, under the roof soffit, on the terrace and in a garden gazebo.
