NORLYS Sol 4057BL Outdoor Ceiling Light LED 19.3W 3000K DALI2 Black Ø20 cm IP65

Sol 4057BL is an outdoor ceiling light shaped as a low cylinder, 20 cm in diameter and 11 cm high. The body of extruded profile and cast aluminium alloy is powder-coated black (RAL 9005) and closed underneath by a satin, UV-stabilised polycarbonate diffuser with a silicone seal. The LED module and driver are built in, so there is no lamp to buy.

Mounting and connection

It screws to the ceiling through two ø5 mm holes 100 mm apart and weighs 2.42 kg. It hangs 11 cm below the ceiling, a figure to compare with the height of the canopy over your entrance or terrace.

The terminals take conductors up to 5 × 2.5 mm², and the supply can loop on to the next light at up to 1.5 mm², so several lights under one roof can share a single cable. The EPDM gland takes round cable of 7–10.5 mm. It is protection class I, so it needs an earth conductor.

How much light, and what kind

The 16.8 W Philips Fortimo module produces 2200 lm, and 1663 lm comes through the satin diffuser at 19.3 W input, or 86.2 lm/W. That is enough to light a whole covered terrace or gazebo, not just to mark a door. The satin finish hides the individual LEDs, the light falls symmetrically downwards, and only 0.3% of the flux escapes upwards. 3000 K is a warm white, and Ra 80 renders colours well outdoors.

The driver is DALI2, so brightness is set from a DALI control system; an ordinary phase-cut dimmer will not work with it. The maker also allows a DC supply of 176–280 V.

Build and service

IP65 means dust-tight and protected against water jets, and IK10 means it withstands a 20 J impact. The maker rates the module at L70 above 50,000 h. A qualified technician replaces the LED module and driver, and Norlys stocks two service kits for this light, ZS4043ZX0009 with the LED module and ZS4047ZX0009 with the driver, so one failed part does not mean replacing the whole fitting.
