Outdoor Wall Light NORLYS Chelsea 955CO copper E27 IP44 with lantern above the arm

Chelsea 955CO is a NORLYS outdoor wall light in the form of a large, classic lantern standing on an arm: a four-sided lantern with glazed sides, a sloping roof and a finial sits above an arm with an ornate, open-work bracket. The lantern is made of copper and the arm of aluminium powder-coated black. The panes are clear, UV-stabilised polycarbonate.

Dimensions and wall mounting

The light is 96 cm tall and 31 cm wide, and it projects 53 cm from the wall. Those are the dimensions of a large lantern – compare them with the height of your front door or the width of the pillar it is meant to hang on. It weighs 5.64 kg, or 6.08 kg packed.

The set consists of three parts: the luminaire (art. 9012), the arm (art. 9070) and the connection bracket (art. 9050). It is fixed to the wall through 4 holes of ø5 mm at 25 × 140 mm spacing. The terminals take conductors up to 2 × 2.5 mm², and the EPDM gland seals round cable of 7–10.5 mm diameter. The light is protection class II, so it needs no protective earth.

Bulb and light

The luminaire has an E27 socket for an A-shape bulb, the classic pear form. The manufacturer allows only an LED source of up to 11 W. No bulb is included, so you choose the colour temperature and brightness yourself, and you can change it without a service visit.

The light is open: the bulb stays visible through the clear panes, so its shape becomes part of how the lantern looks. With a 2700 K bulb the lantern gives a warm, slightly yellowish light.

Copper outdoors

IP44 means protection against splashing water, so the light can hang on a façade, by an entrance or on a terrace. It operates from −20 to +45 °C. The manufacturer intends Chelsea for both private grounds and public areas – it suits the entrance of a house, hotel or restaurant.

Outdoors, copper darkens over time and develops a patina – a natural property of the metal. The same lantern hanging below the arm is model 964CO.
