NUMINOS DL M is a round recessed downlight 10.5 cm across, with a black trim ring and a black reflector inside. The body is aluminium with a finned heat sink at the back, and the cover is polycarbonate. The LED is permanently built in — only a professional can replace it.

How much room the ceiling needs

The cut-out is round and 9 cm wide, and the manufacturer asks for 7.5 cm of depth above the ceiling. The visible 10.5 cm ring covers the edge of the hole, so only a few millimetres sit below the ceiling line.

Leaf springs hold it in place and suit panels 7 to 25 mm thick, which covers an ordinary plasterboard ceiling. The downlight weighs 0.242 kg and those springs carry all of it, so no separate bracket is involved.

The light it puts out

It delivers 1500 lm from 17.55 W, the brightness of an old 100 W bulb but concentrated into a 20° beam. That angle lays a clearly bounded pool of light on the floor, which is why several are usually set in a row rather than one per room.

3000 K is warm white — a yellowish light close to a traditional bulb. Ra 90 means colours under it look almost as they do in daylight, and UGR ≤ 19 is the figure lighting standards require at office workstations, so it does not glare at someone sitting under it at a desk.

The driver is bought separately

It is a protection class III fitting run on a 500 mA constant current, not wired straight to 230 V. A 10 cm lead with a low-voltage connector comes out of the back, and a matching LED driver must be bought separately; SLV lists articles 1004054, 1004064, 1004069 and 1006459.

The fitting itself is not DALI capable, so whether and how it dims is decided by the driver you pick — 1004054 works with a phase dimmer, 1006459 on a DALI bus.

Where it can go

The installation manual places number 1003865 in the range marked IP44 — protection against splashing water from every direction — so it also suits a bathroom ceiling outside the direct shower area. The operating temperature range runs from -20 to 40 °C.

The manufacturer quotes 50,000 h on the L80B50 criterion and IK02 impact resistance. Because the diodes are built in, at the end of that life the whole fitting is replaced, not a lamp.
