NUMINOS MOVE S is a round recessed ceiling downlight with a visible ring 10 cm across, in white with a chrome reflector. The MOVE in the name refers to the movable insert: the fitting rotates and tilts, so the beam can be aimed at a particular picture, shelf or counter instead of pointing straight down.

The driver has to be bought separately

The fitting works in protection class III on a 250 mA secondary current — it is not connected to 230 V. No driver is included: SLV lists it under accessories and sells it separately, so the fitting on its own cannot be switched on once unpacked.

The manufacturer offers 250 mA drivers with different capabilities for it: a basic 6.5–10 W version, a phase-dimmable version, a 20 W DALI driver, and a 12 W bridge driver prepared for Casambi and Zigbee radio modules. It is therefore the driver, not the fitting, that decides whether and how the light dims — choose the two together.

How it is installed

A round opening 9 cm across is cut in the ceiling, and the manufacturer requires 8.5 cm of installation depth — a figure to check in your own suspended ceiling before the hole is made. The body itself is 6.35 cm tall, of which only 3 mm of ring sits below the ceiling plane, so the fitting finishes almost flush.

Two spring clips on the body do the mounting, and mounting plates and screws are supplied with it. The fitting ends in a short lead with a plug-in low-voltage connector that joins it to the driver. It weighs 0.209 kg. The manufacturer also lists 160/100 mm reduction rings, useful when fitting where a larger opening already exists.

The light it gives

The LED module draws 8.6 W and delivers 690 lm at 2700 K — warm light with a yellowish cast, close to a traditional incandescent bulb. A colour rendering index of Ra 90 means the colours of a picture, a fabric or goods on a shelf appear under it almost as they would in daylight, which matters more in accent lighting than the lumen figure alone.

The manufacturer gives a half beam angle of 20°, that is a narrow, concentrated beam, and a glare index of UGR ≤ 19. Stated life is 50,000 hours and the ambient temperature range −20 to 40 °C. Optional honeycomb, frosted, prismatic and ellipse diffusers change the character of the beam.
