The Rendl Sharm Base is a round recessed downlight 8.6 cm across that protrudes just 2 mm below the ceiling once installed — from below you see essentially only the black ring. Inside sits a deeply recessed reflector with a stepped baffle, which keeps the LED itself out of sight at normal viewing angles.
A 24° beam — accent light, not ambient
The fitting delivers 900 lm on 10 W in a 24° beam. That is a distinctly tight distribution: from a 2.7 m ceiling the pool of light is a little over a metre across, so the Sharm Base suits places where light must land on something specific — a worktop, a picture, a counter, a textured wall. Lighting a whole room evenly takes several of them on a grid, or a wider-beam fitting. 3000 K is warm white, and CRI 80 is adequate for utility and commercial spaces.
What comes in the box
The manufacturer supplies the fitting complete: the LED light source is integrated and included, and the driver is in the box as well. Neither a bulb nor a separate transformer has to be bought — connect 230 V and the fitting is ready. The rated life of the LED module is 30,000 hours.
Installation dimensions
The ceiling opening should be round, 7.5 cm in diameter, with 10 cm of depth above it for the body with its heatsink and for the driver. That matters in shallow suspended ceilings and where plasterboard runs close to the structural slab — 10 cm is more than a typical flat panel fitting needs. The fitting weighs 226 g, so ceiling construction is not the constraint here.
