The shade is ceramic, not glass
The manufacturer puts it plainly: "the luminaire is made of aluminium and has a lamp shade made of ceramic". The white shade on this pendant is ceramic, not opal glass, and the difference shows in everyday use.
Ceramic passes no light through it — it reflects off the white inner surface and directs it downwards. The result is a sharply bounded beam onto a counter or worktop, with the outer walls of the shade staying essentially dark. An opal glass shade behaves the opposite way: it glows across its whole surface and lifts the surroundings. If what you want above a counter is a light that illuminates the goods rather than itself, ceramic here is an advantage rather than a compromise.
Ceramic also takes heat and does not yellow with age the way plastic does — relevant at the permitted 60 W if anyone fits a halogen lamp.
For 1-phase track, with the adapter included
This is not an ordinary pendant. TONGA 4 mounts into the 240 V 1-phase track system, and the adapter is part of the package — it does not have to be bought separately, which with track fittings is often the case.
From that follows the main advantage: the fitting can be slid along the track, turned or taken off without touching the installation. In a shop where the display changes every season, in a café, or in a kitchen with an island, it means the lighting layout keeps up with the furniture layout.
A 150 cm drop and a 15 cm shade
The cable is 150 cm long and the shade 15 cm across, with the whole fitting 22 cm tall. It is a narrow, tall form — it does not spread light widely but cuts a concentrated pool out of it. Above a counter or a long worktop it makes sense to hang several in a row at 60–80 cm intervals; a single fitting lights an area roughly a metre across.
The whole pendant weighs just 0.763 kg, so it barely loads the track and many will fit on one run.
E14 — and what to put in it
The socket is E14 rated to 60 W. The manufacturer notes it is suitable for LED and energy-saving lamps; no lamp is included.
With a ceramic shade the choice of envelope does not affect how the fitting looks — the source stays hidden either way. Only what emerges below the shade matters: for displaying goods, a high-CRI LED is worth it, because that decides whether product colours read truthfully.
Construction and safety
The body is aluminium in grey. The fitting is protection class II — double-insulated and needing no earth conductor, which simplifies installation in a track. IP20 restricts it to dry interiors.
Supply is 220–240 V at 50/60 Hz. SLV backs the fitting with a five-year guarantee.
