TUMARAPI is a table lamp with a column-shaped plaster base, fluted with vertical grooves and rounded at the top, in a matt grey finish. It carries a cylindrical drum shade in white fabric, and the lamp stands 47 cm tall overall.
Size and space on the surface
According to the manufacturer's drawing, the shade measures 35 cm across and 20 cm high, and its lower edge sits about 27 cm above the tabletop — the height of the base alone. It is the shade, not the slim column, that sets the space needed: compare the 35 cm diameter with the top of the chest of drawers, side table or bedside table where the lamp will stand.
The power cable leaves the bottom of the base and runs across the surface, so the lamp is easiest to place where a socket is within reach of the cable without routing it across the middle of the furniture.
Bulb and light
The lamp has a single E27 lampholder, and the manufacturer allows a light source of no more than 12 W. No bulb is included. In practice the 12 W limit means an LED bulb — a traditional 40 W or 60 W incandescent exceeds it. Typical LED bulbs of around 800 lm, the brightness of an old 60 W bulb, stay within this limit.
You choose the light colour with the bulb: 2700 K is warm, slightly yellowish light and 3000 K is warm white. The fabric shade hides the bulb from the side and diffuses its light, so the source does not shine straight into your eyes.
Materials and interior
The base is made of plaster and the shade of fabric. Plaster is brittle, so the base is best protected from knocks and from falling off the table. The vertical flutes of the column and the plain cylindrical shade give a modern form without ornament — the only metal detail is the short stem joining the base to the shade.
The lamp suits a living room or a bedroom: on a chest of drawers, a table beside the sofa or a bedside table.
