Polux: LED bulbs and lighting for home and garden
Polux is a lighting brand of Sanico Electronics Polska, a company based in Marki, just outside Warsaw, which has been active on the Polish market since 2002 and sells its products under the Sanico Goldlux and Sanico Polux names. The company is an importer of light sources and fittings, and it says its products are designed to keep energy use as low as possible, with plastic film being phased out of its packaging. The Polux range is practical, everyday lighting: bulbs for the lamps you already own, garden lights and floodlights – things that simply have to work.
Polux at Lunares
At Lunares you will find Polux light bulbs: LED filament bulbs in the classic A60 shape, small G45 globes for festoon lights, amber vintage-style bulbs, E14 candle bulbs and bulbs with a built-in dusk sensor. Alongside them are outdoor wall lights, from modern stainless-steel designs to classic patinated lanterns, outdoor floor lamps and bollards for GU10 bulbs, LED floodlights and tripod stands for them, desk lamps and loft-style rope pendants.
How to choose an LED bulb
-
Cap. Check the lamp holder first: E27 is the standard screw cap, E14 the small one, and GU10 has two pins and is used in spotlights and garden lights.
-
Lumens, not watts. An LED bulb's brightness is measured in lumens. Around 806 lm matches an old 60 W incandescent bulb, and about 450 lm matches a 40 W one.
-
Colour temperature. 2200–2700 K is very warm, cosy light for living rooms and bedrooms; 3000 K is warm white; higher values give a cooler light for working.
-
Filament and amber glass. Filament bulbs look like old-style bulbs with a glowing wire, so they suit lamps where the bulb is on show. Amber glass gives an even warmer, more atmospheric glow.
-
Dusk sensor. A bulb with a dusk sensor switches itself on at nightfall and off at dawn, which is handy in a porch light.
Garden lights
For outdoor fittings, the IP rating on the product page is what matters. Under a canopy a lower rating is fine, while an exposed wall or a spot beside a path calls for a higher one. Fittings that take a replaceable bulb let you choose an LED source with the brightness and colour you want.
