Wever & Ducré: design lighting from Belgium

Wever & Ducré is a Belgian lighting brand based in Kortrijk and part of the Xalgroup. Its story began in 1985, when Frank Deceuninck launched his own lighting collection from Roeselare. The name is built from five Flemish words – werklust, vertrouwen, enthousiasme, durf and creativiteit, meaning zest for work, trust, enthusiasm, daring and creativity – which the company still calls its philosophy. New designs are developed by the research and development team at the brand's Creative Lab in Barcelona, and the collection is made for homes as well as hotels, restaurants, lobbies and offices.

"Life is too short for boring lighting"

That motto sums up the Wever & Ducré look: architectural luminaires with clean geometry, noble design and high-quality workmanship. Aluminium is the brand's favourite material, finished sandblasted, powder-coated or glazed, and it is joined by hand-blown glass, soft felt and real marble. Model names carry the mounting type and a version number, such as CENO SURFACE 6.0 or FINLIN WALL 4.0. The brand also develops low-voltage systems, such as 24 V plug-and-play lighting and the STREX 48 V track.

Wever & Ducré at Lunares

At Lunares you will find Wever & Ducré recessed lights, including fittings for G4 low-voltage capsules, wall lights that throw light down or up and down the wall, surface-mounted flush ceiling lights and multi-head adjustable spotlights for directing light onto a wall or a display.

What to consider

  • Recessed or surface-mounted. A recessed fitting needs a suspended ceiling with enough depth above it; check the cut-out size and installation depth. Surface-mounted fittings suit solid concrete ceilings.
  • Direction of light. Wall lights that shine down, or up and down, draw lines of light on the wall and work well in corridors and stairwells. Adjustable spots let you aim light at artwork or shelving.
  • Light source. Check whether a fitting uses integrated LED or a replaceable lamp, and for low-voltage lamps whether a transformer or driver is needed.
  • Matching pieces. Choose fittings from one family for a consistent look across rooms.
