Amarilli table lamp - 1 light source - Bronze with Gold Patina, ivory shade Elstead

Amarilli is a table lamp from Elstead Lighting's own range, handmade in England. A slender steel stem finished in bronze with gold patina is topped by a crown of antiqued oak leaves, from which clear K9 crystal-glass drops hang. A tapered ivory polycotton shade with a round finial completes it.

Dimensions

The lamp stands 72 cm tall with its shade. The shade is 43 cm across at the bottom, 36 cm at the top and 25 cm high, and the round base is 19 cm in diameter. On a side table or chest of drawers, allow for a 43 cm circle, because it is the shade rather than the base that sets the lamp's footprint. The lamp weighs 2.85 kg.

Light source and operation

The fitting has one E27 lampholder for a bulb of up to 60 W. The bulb is not included. The lamp is powered from a wall socket by a cable with a plug and switched on with an inline switch on the cable, so it needs no installation.

The fitting has no dimmer of its own. The manufacturer states that it works with dimmable smart bulbs – brightness is then set from the bulb itself, for example in an app. The ivory shade lets some light through to the sides, while the rest leaves through the top and bottom, onto the surface and the crystal drops below.

The lamp is protection class I with an earthed plug, so it needs an earthed socket. It is intended for indoor use.

Where to place it

The oak leaves, crystal drops and patinated finish give Amarilli a classic character. It suits a chest of drawers or side table in a living room, a bedside cabinet in a bedroom and a desk in a study.
