Bar Stool Ithaca Outdoor Collection 70 cm

Ithaca is a backless bar stool made from reclaimed teak. Its sides are two closed frames with rounded corners, joined low down by two crossbars, and the seat is built from narrow slats set into a perimeter frame. The wood is left in its natural tone, with the grain plainly visible.

How high you sit and which counter it suits

The seat sits 70 cm above the floor, which is the range counted for a bar counter of 100–110 cm. At a lower worktop the gap between seat and counter becomes small enough that your legs no longer fit comfortably underneath.

The base takes up 42 × 42 cm of floor. The frame is open on every side, so the stool slides under the counter when it is not in use — the manufacturer names this as a way to win floor space back in a narrow setting. The lower crossbars run along several sides of the frame and work as a footrest whichever side you sit from. There is no backrest, so your back stays unsupported.

Reclaimed teak and the differences between pieces

The whole body is cut from reclaimed teak. The manufacturer notes that with a natural material worked by hand, differences in tone and grain and small surface irregularities belong to the collection — two stools ordered together will not look identical.

The stool weighs 17.5 kg. That is a figure to weigh against the route the piece has to travel from delivery to its place, and against how often you plan to move it.

Where it can stand and how to look after it

The manufacturer intends Ithaca for sheltered outdoor space — beside a covered bar or on a roofed balcony. The care instructions ask for a dry environment and warn against prolonged exposure to moisture, which can warp the wood. The stool is not meant to stay out in open rain for a whole season.

Dust comes off with a soft cloth or brush; heavier dirt with a damp cloth and mild soap, after which the surface is wiped dry. Oiling or sealing it regularly keeps the warm golden tone; without that, teak greys over time into a silver patina.
