What exactly you are buying
This is the shade alone. The maker supplies no cord, no lampholder and no bulb — Arun hangs from an existing ceiling fitting or from a plug-in cord set. Check this before you buy: if there is no fitting at the mounting point yet, you will need a separate suspension set.
Light through the weave
The vertical spokes, spaced in a regular rhythm, act as an open screen: light leaves through the wide open bottom and breaks through the sides in bands, drawing vertical streaks across ceiling and walls. The effect is strongest with a clear decorative bulb and with the light dimmed — then the weave itself becomes part of the decor. If you want calm light without pronounced shadows, choose an opal source.

A handmade piece
The shade is woven by hand, so small differences in shade, weave and dimensions are a feature of the product, not a defect. No two pieces are identical — the natural consequence of working with a plant material.
Care and where to mount it
Clean rattan dry — a soft brush or a dry cloth passed between the spokes; a vacuum with a soft brush head works too. Do not soak it and do not use chemicals. The maker intends the lamp for indoor use only and states that outdoor use is not covered by the warranty — that includes a roofed terrace or gazebo, where damp and temperature swings distort the weave.
Where it works
At 55 cm across, Arun is a lamp to hang over a table, a kitchen island or in a generous living room — it needs distance for the drum form to read. Natural rattan suits boho, japandi and Scandinavian interiors and sits well with wood, linen and lime plaster. Over a worktop, hang it so the lower edge sits roughly 70–80 cm above the table — then the open bottom lights the surface and the weave does not block the view across it.
