ALASSIO is a mother & child floor lamp: one 180 cm column carries two independent light sources — an upper one throwing light at the ceiling, and an adjustable reading arm set lower down. Finish: polished antique brass with white frosted diffusers.

Two lamps in one — and that is the whole point

Endon publishes separate figures for the two modules:

• Up-light: 18 W, 1150 lm — aimed at the ceiling, which bounces it back as soft, shadowless general light. It does not dazzle, because the source itself is not in view.
• Reading arm: 6 W, 380 lm — directional, angled, aimed at a book or a piece of work.
• Together: 24 W and 1530 lm at 3000 K (warm white), an efficacy of about 64 lm/W.

The key point: each circuit has its own toggle switch and they can be lit separately or together. In practice that is three settings from one lamp — general light alone in the evening, the reading lamp alone beside a television, or both when you need to see the whole corner of the room.

Endon notes that both switches are easy to reach — a small thing that decides daily comfort: no groping for a switch down by the floor.

Placing it in the room

At 180 cm the upper diffuser sits above a standing person's eye level, so the lamp works as indirect lighting and does not glare. The base is Ø 30 cm — a wide, stable disc for a 5.4 kg lamp, but it needs room: it will not slide into a narrow gap between an armchair and the wall.

Its natural place is the corner behind an armchair or at the end of a sofa: the up-light brightens the whole corner of the room while the reading arm puts light exactly where you sit. The white frosted diffusers spread the beam, so no hard patch forms on the ceiling.

Installation and limitations

• Protection class II — double insulated, no earth; plugs into an ordinary socket.
• 2 m cable, black. Worth checking the distance to the socket before committing the lamp to a corner.
• The LED modules (SMD 2835) are built in, the control gear is integrated and the sources are included — there are no bulbs to buy and nothing to replace. Once the diodes are spent, the whole lamp is replaced.
• Not dimmable and no colour adjustment. Brightness is set by choosing which of the two circuits is on.
• IP20 — dry interiors only.

Finish

A steel body with ABS components, in polished antique brass — warmer and more restrained than bright brass, and forgiving of fingerprints. Diffusers: white frosted glass. Endon also offers the same model in other finishes.
