Endon Klien YG-862-SS Outdoor Wall Lantern, Polished Stainless Steel, E27 IP44

Endon Klien YG-862-SS is an outdoor wall lantern with its lamp chamber standing above the supporting arm. Polished stainless steel surrounds a clear polycarbonate shade, leaving the bulb visible. A shaped roof and decorative wall plate give it a traditional outline, while the reflective metal offers an alternative to a dark painted lantern.

Check the projection before choosing a position

The fitting is 31.5 cm high and 16.5 cm wide, with a projection of 21.5 cm from the wall. That last measurement matters beside an opening door or a narrow passage: compare it with the available clearance before installation. The wall-mounted format can be used on a façade beside an entrance, terrace or balcony, provided there is room for the projecting lantern. Its classic silhouette remains visible when switched off, so the polished surface forms part of the exterior rather than disappearing into it.

This is specifically the upright version. Do not turn YG-862-SS over to make a downward-hanging lantern. The manufacturer's instructions tie its mounting orientation to the position of the drainage holes; the downward version is a separate model.

Choose one E27 bulb separately

The single E27 holder accepts a bulb up to a maximum of 60 W. No bulb is supplied, and the manufacturer allows suitable LED lamps. Brightness and colour temperature therefore depend on the light source you buy, rather than being fixed by the lantern. The clear shade also exposes the bulb's shape, making its appearance relevant to the finished look. Dimming requires a dimmable bulb and compatible control; fitting an ordinary non-dimmable LED does not give it dimming capability.

Outdoor installation still needs care

The IP44 rating provides protection against splashing water, not immersion or water-jet cleaning. This is a Class I fitting and must be earthed. The instructions recommend installation by a qualified electrician on a sound wall. Before cleaning, isolate the supply and allow at least 10 minutes for cooling. Stainless steel needs deposits removed, particularly salt contamination; a polished stainless finish does not mean the lantern can be left without maintenance outdoors.
