Fabbian Beluga D57 table lamp, chrome, GU10 – D57B0515

Beluga D57 in version D57B0515 is a small table lamp designed by Marc Sadler: a 9 cm sphere of polished chrome-plated metal set on a bent wire stand. The sphere rotates, so the light can be pointed where it is needed.

Size and placement

The lamp is 12.5 cm high and 12.5 cm wide and weighs 0.51 kg. Compare those figures with the free space on your bedside table or shelf – it takes up less room than a typical lamp with a shade. The manufacturer intends it for the bedside table in a bedroom or hotel room and for the living room; it also works in an office and as a reading lamp.

Light source

The fitting has one GU10 socket and runs on 220–240 V. The manufacturer gives a 1 × 7 W lamp as the light source and 50 W as the maximum, a bulb rating that must not be exceeded. No bulb is included, so you choose the colour temperature and beam angle yourself; GU10 is usually a directional source, and the rotating sphere lets you aim the beam at a book, a desk top or a wall.

Finish and the Beluga D57 series

The chrome-plated metal reflects its surroundings like a mirror, which gives such a small form a distinctly modern character – the manufacturer describes the design as youthful and modern, suited to simple and colourful settings. It is Italian design from Fabbian.

The manufacturer also offers the Beluga D57 table version in coloured finishes, including red, yellow, blue and green, and the same family covers pendant, wall, ceiling and floor lamps as well as track spotlights, so the same shape can be repeated in several places in one interior.
