Freeport Medium Wall Lantern - 1 light source - Textured Black Elstead

Freeport is a medium-sized Hinkley wall lantern in a classic New England style: a cylindrical shade of clear seeded glass with fine air bubbles, divided by black glazing bars and topped with a hat-shaped roof. The shade hangs from an arm that projects from a rectangular wall plate. The fitting is distributed by Elstead Lighting.

Size and where it fits

The lantern is 30.1 cm high, 20.7 cm wide and projects 23.2 cm from the wall — a figure to compare with the free space beside your front door, so the opening door leaf does not catch it. It weighs 1.34 kg.

The IP44 rating means protection against splashing water from any direction, and the manufacturer intends it for outdoor mounting on a facade. Where the wall has no flat section, for example on the corner of a building, a separately sold corner bracket, C-BKT2-BLACK or C-BKT2-BROWN, can be added.

Material and finish

The body is made of a weather-resistant composite rather than metal, so the textured black finish is not a coating on steel that could rust where it chips. The matt, slightly grainy texture is visible in the photos. The same series also comes in textured white.

Light source

The fitting has one E27 socket for a bulb of up to 40 W; the bulb is not included. The seeded glass breaks up the image of the filament without hiding it, so the bulb remains visible through the panes. The lantern can be dimmed with a bulb marked as dimmable and a dimmer in the installation. It is protection class I — an earth conductor must be available at the mounting point.
