MITO is an aluminium stair profile for LED strip, glued in under a ceramic tile. The body is silver anodised, and a flat perforated wing runs off one side. What ships is the profile alone, in a 2020 mm length.
Dimensions and where it sits in the tile layer
The whole cross-section is 33,5 mm wide including the wing, the channel body alone 18,4 mm, and the profile stands 11,6 mm high. The manufacturer matched that height to the thickness of a standard ceramic tile, so the face of the profile finishes flush with the covering. The channel is 15,6 mm across at the opening and takes LED strip up to 12 mm wide — a figure worth checking on the strip's own packaging first.
The piece measures 2020 mm. The MITO system also runs to 1000 mm and 3000 mm, and non-standard sizes up to 6 m are made to order. The profile is marked as non-joinable: two pieces cannot be set into one continuous line, so a longer run has to be ordered as a single piece.
What comes in the box and what has to be bought
The box holds the profile on its own. LED strip, driver, cover and end caps are separate items from the same system. The milky TERRA cover presses into the profile from above and it is the part that carries the IP54 rating — without it the profile has no declared ingress rating, so in a damp location the cover is part of the purchase rather than an extra.
End caps are offered in plastic and in aluminium, in the version with a cable hole. The driver mounts outside the profile, because the channel has no room for it — a place for it outside the tiled area has to be settled before the covering goes down.
Installation and limits
The profile is glued in under the tile, with the perforated wing left in the adhesive bed. The manufacturer credits that perforation with spreading the adhesive evenly under the covering and with a stable fit free of voids. It is a recessed fitting, done as the tiles are laid rather than afterwards.
Light leaves perpendicular to the face of the profile, straight out of the tile line. The manufacturer does not list MITO as a drive-over profile, so it is not intended for floors that vehicles run on.
